Ah. I can see why this dance never got popular despites the lovely music. Not symmetrical enough to be ingrained in memory. Plus it's 3 people.
I didn't go to the gym today and decided to exercise with renaissance dancing. Bella Gioiosa doing all three solos is quite a workout.
10 days till Pennsic. Aaaarrrgh. Haven't sewn for the boy yet. Maybe he'll just get to borrow my white chemise and have matching linen to throw over it... to match my improvised "early classical" roman clothing.
At KWDS, there was a musician's challenge, where the musician started to play a dance song, then would randomly insert other pieces in. Making a medley of dances and music. We had to figure it out mid-dance. This changed several times. I was in a set with Gwommy, Darius and his fiance, so we did pretty well. Figured out obscure ECD stuff...
The funny thing is, the dance that took us the longest to figure out... we would look at each other.. then at a particular musical phrase, we all turned, including me (who was quite rusty then) and we couldn't figure out why we were turning. Until someone said: "Lorayne Almande!" And we're like: oooh.
It's funny how our body recognized the musical phrasing and knew it had to turn at that phrase.
