evil white sugar! and d&d

So I've been trying to avoid white sugar because it's evil. Seriously, that stuff is pure evil, and not good for you whatsoever.
Anyways, yesterday I really hunkered down... I had just protein and salad, and avocado for good fats and avoided candy bars and simple sugars...  even walked 3 miles in the gym.

But then I gave in to a glass of chai, and I immediately felt bloating in my tummy. Which confirms to me that sugar and simple carbs provokes my heartburn.

And then, an entire hoard of D&Ders invaded my living room, and they brought cheese pizza, which after I ate, I was like.. might as well have a kit-kat and then I had chai again and then my heartburn came back....

I'm addicted to white sugar.

Uchi was really cute last night. He would sit in the middle of the map, or just play with the other folks, and he's just so adorable.

And oh yeah, I'm involved in a new D&D campaign. Should be fun!!

Just don't try to charm all the villagers into being your friends, remember what happened last time you tried that... actually if I recall, after the angry mob chsed you out of town, things ended up going really well and they made made a statue in our honor so never mind... charm away.

Trying to control my diet frustrates me, too. If I go cold turkey on something, it's too hard to resist. If I try to ration it, it's too easy to have just a little bit more.

okay, i think you triggered my RPG needs. where can I play RPG games in Austin?

Hmm, finding a compatible group can be a challenge. Two places I might look are the local Meetup groups. Austin has one for D&D and one for other RPGs. Both meet pretty regularly to socialize and play one-session adventures, but these one-shots are pretty combat-oriented. I occasionally run one-shot adventures for the D&D group.

"white" sugar
What's up with the "white sugar" meme, also occasionally rearing it's head as "processed sugar" or "krystaline sugar" or variations thereof..

Too much sugar is bad for you, true. The -white- kind ain't in any way that matters significantly different from, say the brown kind or any other kind. Advertising is praying on the naive already; "No white sugar added", it says, and then the stuff is filled to the brim with fruit-sugar or whatever (which has the added benefit of sounding healthy, cos it's got "fruit" in the name, yes ?)

I should specify that I'm talking of substances that consist of like 95%+ sugar here. Obviously sugar combined with more healthy stuff is significantly better -- eating an apple ain't generally unhealthy, despite the sugar-contents.

But really, the 1% or so trace-elements that make brown sugar be brown aren't making much of a difference. The health-effects are close-to-identical.

Okay. I'll go rant somewhere else now. Thank you for your patience. *grin*

Re: "white" sugar
You missed my point.

There's nothing good about -unrefined- sugar either. When you talk about the curse of the "white sugar", or "refined sugar" you spread the nonsensical idea that sugar which doesn't have these qualities, for example because it's brown (not white!) is somehow better.

It isn't.
