5000 faces

keith johnstone mentioned drawing 5000 faces to get good at drawing faces.. i'm inspired. i've always loved to doodle, but i don't seem to value them as much as my oil paintings. maybe because they get hanged and make more significant gifts. but i've got the urge to sketch now. and i've rediscovered this fantasy/sci-fi drawing website: http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/elfwood.pike

my sister has been posting her "fantasy" artwork on Elfwood for a couple of years. it's an interesting site.

the japanese say if you fold 1000 paper cranes your wish will come true. i folded 1000 cranes, but have yet to make a wish. i think you're supposed to have a wish first though, so your wish goes into 1000 cranes. figures.

I think Scott McCloud mentions drawing a face every day on a 3x5 index card until he perfected the art in _Understanding Comics_. If you haven't read it, it's fairly awesome.

I admire anyone who can draw any face, let alone 5k.
