Outward Bound

Has anyone ever done one of those outward bound adventures?

i'm tempted to do this
This Winter Sampler course is designed to give a basic introduction to a variety of winter recreational activities. Your 7-day course includes a day each of snowshoeing, dogsledding, cross-country skiing, and ice climbing. You'll also learn winter campcraft skills like fire building, map/compass navigation, knot-tying, and cooking.

I've been getting this strange urge to just go hiking around appalachian, canoeing/rafting, and stuff.

I've never done one, but it sounds great.

My idea of "roughing it" is eating in a patio without a napkin, but I admit that dogsledding and snowshoeing sounds like a lot of fun. And I always wanted to develop map/compass navigating skills and creative knot-tying.

If only they had included ice dancing and snowman building... :-)

Duchess Elena did that, years ago. She said it was a great experience, and a challenge. She said more than that, but I don't remember what else.

Sounds like a great week! But you will be sore and achey after a few days -- you'll discover muscles you never knew you had.

I would totally do it if I were you. But then again, I can understand the sudden urge to go hiking and whatnot -- hence the 350km cross-country Spain trip :-)

How far we are away from downtown depends a lot on traffic. Assuming low traffic, we're about 20 minutes away. (We're in Redmond, near the Bellevue border.)

We'd love to have you, although obviously we'd need to know specific dates to say for sure.

I'd do something like that in a heartbeat.

I've have a small problem of a wife who isn't interested and a son who's too young, though, so it'll be a few years for me.

Cheers,
Matt

I've always wanted to do the Colorado River 100, but I always forget about it.

Also, I REALLY want to go white water rafting. I haven't been in 10 or 12 years. I used to go on the Ocoee River back in Tennessee about once a year.
