Aikido, korean bbq, writing.

Well, it's been a while since I posted about a new hobby, but fear not, for my hobby is still to collect hobbies. Yesterday, Andy and I signed for a beginner's Aikido program. It's twice a week, some Saturdays, for the month of June. We had to buy a uniform and everything. There was a lot of bowing.

Yay for commiting me to bi-weekly exercising.

Afterwards we went to a delicious Korean BBQ buffet. I don't know the name of the place, but it's at Lamar and Justin Lane, where the Korean grocery and the kareoke place is. It's next to the liquor store, not the one in the grocery. And it was delicious. Beef ribs and korean bacon, all for $9.99. I was in food heaven.

Afterwards, Andy and I tried to watch Ice Age but it was terrible so we stopped. And I fell asleep at 10:30 pm. Yeah, but the last 2 days have been really long. Then I woke up at 5 am, had an intense dream/fantasy session in my head that I woke up to write. I'm trying to write a book you all. One day it'll be done. And then went back to bed.

Come try with us! so you have friends in the class!

I figured even if we don't develop a passion for it, we'll learn really good skills: how to fall, and how to make someone larger then us fall.

I fall asleep before 10:30 almost every night... I wonder what that says about me.

pboyd said you're turning into an old lady ;-)

is it just the lack of social scene in your area?

I think it's a combination of lack of social scene and really liking sleep and bed. It's hard though, because I like working out at home where nobody can see me, I'm not looking to pick anyone up, and I don't drink that much anymore. So - I don't have much of a REASON to go out either.

I am pretty sure that I CAN go out later if I wanted to, but I don't really. Did I mention I really like sleep? Because I do. Like 8-10 hours a night.

studies of happiness shows that relationships (and dancing) as one of the highest factors.

i would recommend finding new friends in your area.. join a knitting circle maybe? :) or come move back to austin.

I went to a knitting group on Monday and I think I'll go back. I just wish it weren't Monday nights. I feel like I need my Monday nights to take care of all the things I didn't get around to on my weekends.

I'm thinking about moving back to DC when I get done with this job, because I have a life there.

I also gave about 30 seconds thought to finding a dance class one night a week - to make me feel better about life, the universe and everything.

Wilmington, DE. Non-existent town of nowhere.

Aaand - I did Aikido when I was a teenager. I liked it a lot, for the fluidity of motion, the theory and the practice.

I quit when my knees were bad around the same time I quit ballet, and just never got back into it. Plus, when you're busty, it's fairly easy to get kneed in the side of your boob (b/c sportsbras squish them out that way) during some take-down moves, and that was never fun.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Ice Age sucked!
