Ooh, I noticed they're all tagged with "dessert" instead of "desert." Though some of them do look good enough to eat.

I like how your editorial eye kicked in.

Oops. I guess I'll mess up flickr searches for dessert :-P

I love how, no matter how much you go out and see at Burning Man, no matter how unmissable a certain piece of art may seem, you can talk to your friends who were out there and they'll have seen a whole other set of stuff that it seems it would have been impossible to miss. That's why photo sets like this are so awesome.

I know! I felt that way about some of the giant pieces of art I saw photos of. I'm like.. where the heck was that??

I like your portraits and you got some really great night shots with a lot of brilliant colors. How do you decide which photos to publish? I always find that a daunting task with hundreds of images to look through...

yeah... especially since i get attached to some pictures because of subject matter.
i feel like from 600 to 124 was a good step, but if i was super critical i should be able to get the top 10.

i think what struck me was a photographer i talked to at burning man. he said there are a lot of burning man pictures, and sometimes people take 1 or 2 good pictures, but it is buried under the hundreds of pics they take. So I took that to heart, and start cutting off some pics.. the blurry ones and bad composition ones were easy to remove. But the others took longer. I was at Burning 2 weeks ago, so I had time to think about it.

I still have all the originals though, because sometimes pics are also for memory and journaling your vacations.

But he did have a good point. One good picture is worth a hundred unmemorable pics.

I've noticed that if I post only a few pictures of a trip (like less than ten) people are more likely to look at them than if I post say a hundred pics.

When I'm picking my best shots I sometimes want to include a picture to remind of the event or place even though it may not be such a great picture. If your goal is artistic I think you should cut the picture, if you're trying to tell a story or share memories with others maybe you should include it. Even still, I can't always decide which pictures are keepers and which aren't....

Gorgeous
Gorgeous pictures. So colorful ! So many interesting people, well-portrayed.

You're right, it's really hard to cut down, I think top 10 would be overdoing it, but how about top 25 ? That's still mean tossing 4 out of 5 from this set.
