Venue found.

I'm meeting with the venue guy this evening and signing the contract for the venue, and handing over a large chunk of money for the deposit. To me, that seems more real and scary then getting the ring. We are committing to a time and place. Yikes.

We found a really lovely site, it's about 15 mins from downtown Austin called Hummingbird House. It's a new venue, so we manage to get it for 20% off, and also snag a Saturday date. One of the owners also run the Great Outdoors, a plant nursery, and then him and his partner decided to turn their house into a place for people to get married in. I think it will be lovely. The place isn't fully complete yet, when we visited they were still in the process of putting down a stained concrete floor, but they had a really chill vibe that both Andy and I liked. And his partner is still all new to the wedding industry and very flexible and all excited about weddings. A non-jaded facility directory!

They also have a pool, a hot tub, and it goes down to the creek. We really like the venue and the price.

They are allowing Andy and I to bring in our own food and band. Of course, I'm going to make sure that's written into the contract.

I'm glad we found a place, Andy is pretty picky about people and their "vibes". When I saw the place online, I immediately had a good feeling for it, and when they started contacting me they seemed so nice. And it is hard to find a place for the price range we are looking for and nearby. Austin apparently is just really popular for weddings. I guess all the young people. And the venues I looked at like Laguna Gloria and the Umlauf Sculpture garden all showed price hikes from 2009 to 2010. I think the venue we found is cheap because no one knows about them yet. They are going to do the bridal shows in January and get into the magazines. They had a rehearsal wedding last weekend. So cute!
