The Gym

A few months ago, I canceled my super expensive gym with private locker, laundry service, green trails and heated pool. It made me sad to do that, but it was far from both home and work, and I went like once a month, or much less frequent. So it was a waste of money. I still have my gym membership near work ($79 a year!) which I can visit during lunch. But near my home, I wanted to have workout options. There's a small no-frills gym 2 blocks from me. Andy joined it, but then never went. So maybe distance isn't a factor either. Instead, I decided to join the UT (university of texas) gym. It's nearby, no contract, and has great facilities. And the biggest advantage? A lot of my friends go there. So I'm hoping the peer support will help. Yesterday I worked out for 1 hour 40 mins, probably the longest ever, because I went with a friend. We kept chatting and chatting and finally she was like: "Are we skinny yet? Can we go?"

The parking sucks at UT. So that's the biggest obstacle.

Good for you!

Reading your posts about working out provided enough motivation to clear my calendar and schedule in some classes next week. :)

yeah the thing with this fitness stuff is consistency. it's so easy to be excited for a week and then slack off.
watching the biggest loser has been great motivation tho.
