100 photoshoot project

So Keith talked about how he did 5000 drawings of faces to learn how to get better. He never noticed himself improving, but when he looked at drawing #1 and drawing #4400, he could see a huge difference.

And he talked about how it takes 10000 hours to get good at anything, including improvising.

So I think I will start a 100 photoshoot project.  It will be of people.
So far I'm going to count 2, the Ivy Lynn shoot, and the recent engagement shoot.

Next up is a Vintage Pin-up shoot with models, and another pin-up shoot for a friend!

I think it is Erikson.

But yeah, practice makes perfect!

I guess there's some variation, but the basic idea is sound. To actually become a pro in something, you need to spend a lot of time doing it, experimenting with it, whatever. 10K hours sounds about right, that's equivalent to 5 years fulltime work.

I'll be happy to take gorgeous pics of you. We could also do artsy shots, hippie ones, or pin-up ones.. whatever.

And dinner is fine!

I don't know if you've read Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, but he explores the "10,000-hour rule" in depth. I think he formulated the idea and research behind it, but I'm not sure.

Damn good book, though. Very enlightening on what success is and who achieves it.

Yay, I like the 100 photoshoot project.

I like the idea of not noticing yourself improving, too. This should be a fun project to chronicle. I'm glad my pictures will be part of it, and I look forward to seeing the other photoshoot pictures.

Please remind me: what type of camera/lens are you working with?
