a day of good and weird.

I had a really good day today. I received really good news which made me very happy. Had lunch with co-workers who lift my spirits, and watched Cirque Du Soleil with Andy. Allegria was superb, it was my second time watching it, I loved the clowns, but I also loved the sense of flying and skimming the air that was done by the acrobats, the trapeze artists and this one awesome aeriel dancer who was using rubberized silks. There was also a really amazing hooper and contortionist.

I also loved the costumes, very victorian fairy-tale like. At one point they blew a bilzzard of paper snow at us and it was wonderful.

On the weirder note, a guy flew a plane into a building in Austin. I had training in the building next to it once, same complex. And also rumor is the guy used to contract with the company I work for. So good thing he wasn't as pissed off at my company. On our way to Cirque, we passed by the building with the hole and burnt windows. There was traffic even though it wasn't rush hour from people taking in the scene. It's very surreal, there's a hole in the building, and also a toxic after smell. It made me realize how prosperous Austin is; I'm not used to seeing half broken buildings. It was very out of place. The guy was also a software engineer. It made me sad because he had a wife and a kid, and doesn't fit my expectations of what a suicide bomber should be. At 53, living in a great town, with a wife and child, wasn't there other things to live for? But I guess he walked over the edge into a pit of despair and hate and didn't get out in time, or nobody could pull him out.

I thought he was an airplane engineer.

It may be one of the things, but his manifesto talked about software.

I saw the photos of that plane. My friend Karmin apparently works a building or two over.

Gives me flashbacks to 2001 and driving past the burnt out Pentagon on my bus route to work and school every day for 6 months until they fixed it.
