Ack, not posting leads to more not posting. Because there's just too much to update on.
But, it's really important to me to have a journal.. so here goes.

My wedding season started again. It was so nice to not have any weddings to edit, and now I'm behind 3 weddings already.

I booked a Costa Rica wedding for next year. Pretty exciting. I already have 7 weddings for next year, which means I'm no longer angsting about lowering my price. I'm at 2500 for 7 hours, starting price.

Andy and I spent last weekend at Camp Stewart for boys, for a summer camp wedding for my sister-in-law. It was pretty awesome. I got to swim in the guadulupe river and we attempted some badminton, tennis and jenga!

Today is day 1 of our attempt at juice fasting. The theory is to do it for 3 days, and then afterwards to replace a meal with juicing each day.

Hey I was just curious- I remember you said that you were advertising on the Knot, how did that work out for you? I've been considering myself, but the mixed reviews have me a little wary.

sorry for the delay in answering..
the knot has been amazing for me. it actually worked better for me after i became 2k and up. using just the standard listing, out of the 8 weddings in 2012, 6 of them are the knot referrals.

it's so good, i've upgraded the listing to first page starting next month for another $139 more.

Feel free to look up the knot austin wedding photographers to see my competition and how they find me.

I really think (I'm sorry if I sound narcissist) that if you do beautiful work, people will hire you. Have a great profile picture.. and when people click on your link, wow them.

It doesn't matter how much you spend on advertising when you can't hook the person once they visit your site.

Show only what you want to book. Have a beautiful website. Wow people.

hope that helps.

Thanks for the response! I really appreciate it.

Yeah they were having a sale for $150/month for the feature spots. I passed on it for now, but I'm still considering it for next year. My problem largely seems to be traffic- I get a surprisingly high amount of inquiries & bookings from the little amount of web traffic that I do get. I think getting more eyes on my work is the best thing I can do right now, I was just a bit scared to hear of the people who said it wasn't worth their time. I'm glad to hear it's going well for you!
