Friends and Assassins

A few months ago I raised my head up from all the small business work, and realized that i had drifted away from friends or they had moved out of town, and after consciously going to the parties and talking and listening to people, I'm happy where my friendships are. And now it's starting to tip over to too-many-commitments stage. Which is great!

I was at a slip-and-slide party and one of the hosts said: "You know, I've always wanted to be friends with you and Andy." And that gave me warm fuzzies. So I guess it was just a matter of putting in the time!

Ok the story of the Assassin's game. I got a text message from my ally at 2:30 am saying that my target was at a Coldtowne party. I dragged Andy there and we stalked the front yard and couldn't figure out a back way. So I finally peeked into the kitchen and saw golden curls and shot the dude, which turned out to be my ally who was already dead. My target, Ted, was wearing a hat and a black wig and I totally didn't recognize him. He chased me out, and then shot me. It was a fine way to die, I placed 4th. And now I can open my mail and not check corners when I leave the house.

I'm glad I did it because it reconnected me with the improv community :)

Thanks for this. I've been wondering if anyone killed you yet, to put it that way - the assassination-game sounds awesome.

Reminded me of a game I'm currently addicted to. Zombies Run https://www.zombiesrungame.com/ it's a zombies-game that you play on a mobile phone, but the twist is that you play it not by pushing buttons, but by going places and moving around in real life.

Got chased by some zombies for half a mile this morning, on my way out to pick up some medical supplies for the survivors. Fun ! Recommended.

that sounds amazing, though a bit dangerously time consuming :)

Not too bad. The setting is that you're a "runner" doing tasks like picking up medical supplies or searching for still-edible tinned foods for a small enclave of surviving humans in a world overrun by zombies.

While on a mission, the enclave communicate with you by walkie-talkie, i.e. you get messages from them on your headset about what to do. There's no buttons to press on missions, your "input" is only your movement (accelerometer and GPS), thus for example if you're being chased, you need to speed up while if you're sneaking up on someone, you need to move on the gps while -not- shaking the accelerometer around.

Mission-length is configurable: aproximately 30 minutes, or aproximately 60 minutes. (not all of that is mission-content - between messages they play music from a playlist of your choice)

I've been so happy to see you more when I've been out and about!

And congrats on getting so far with Assassins! That is no easy feat!
