macbook air

hellloooo from my pretty pretty precious macbook air.

basically, i haven't had a personal laptop for a decade or so. dell provided me with a work laptop and when i quit my job, i just had a desktop. but in december, i turned in some amex reward points, and got a dell ultrabook. i was pretty excited and thought it was super pretty with its aluminium casing, and cheap!

well, i had it for about 2 weeks, took it to an artemis party today. artemis is a game where you play with a team, and everyone has a laptop and a function: engineering, helm, weapons, science, comm and captain! and you crew a star ship through a dangerous universe! so fun. anyways, i was on engineering, busy powering torpedos and warp drives, when my computer just died!
the captain was like: okay... we just lost engineering.

it wouldn't load the os, and after googling the problem, it seemed to have happen to various users. i was so annoyed, andy drove me to best buy where i returned it, and got a macbook air.

clearly, failing while i was trying to operate a starship was the last straw for me.

so, i finally became a mac user. well, my desktop is still a PC, so we are a bi-OS family here now. but it's a huge step for me since i've always been mac resistant. it took me 10 minutes to figure out how to install a program in a mac. i'm like level 2 newbie mac user.

but how EXCITING. so pretty pretty. it only has 128 gb though (solid state!) so it's mostly just for travel and email and now i can go to a coffeeshop and be a hipster.

i now need a sticker to go on top of the apple logo on my macbook, so i can make a statement about myself while at a coffeeshop.

Would it be cruel of me to point out that Artemis doesn't, infact, run on Mac ?

I concur that the Air is gorgeous, though.

I switched to mac last year too. Isn't it hilarious to go from being a programmer and feeling pretty competent with computers to feeling like you have no idea how to do the most basic things?

I dunno. Silvia bought a new laptop with Windows-8 on it, and to me it seems that the change from XP to Win-8 is *atleast* as confusing as changing XP - ubuntu or XP - MacOs.

It's been two months now, and she's still like "why the fuck is this even happening ? Where's my -x- button ? How do I even get the thing to show my desktop ? Why is there two distinct places to fiddle with power-settings ?"

She's got less trouble using my computer with Ubuntu, than her own Win-8 thingie, and that's despite more than a decade of windows-experience.
