Almost nobody here uses a dryer to dry clothing. Yuppie or not. Except in a very few areas where the winters are particularly wet. It's all air drying. I'm really amazed when I come to the USA and see people using clothes dryers, in the middle of summer, when their clothes would probably dry faster in the air anyway and they wouldn't be using all of that electricity.

oh my goodness. what an earth friendly concept.

it's taken for granted that you use dryers to dry your clothes.. even if you go to a washeteria.

Usually on some kind of shared washing line arrangement out the back with the parking, or in inner-city apartments where there isn't the room, on the roof.

Dunno about oz
Dunno about Oz, but it's perfectly common in Norway. Basically everyone does it, weather permitting. Main reason we even have a drier is that well, we live in western norway, and yeah, it can sometimes, particularily in autumn, rain for like literally a week, and even when it doesn't stuff dries very slowly at freezing temperatures.

But in summer ? Why would I pay for electric power to do something the sun is happy to do for free ? That'd be terribly silly, wouldn't it ?
