Interesting, I've only done life drawing, not life painting. How is the process in comparison? I like to paint but instructors have only let us life draw at St. Ed's so far. Did you start life painting in your Laguna Gloria class or before that?

I wonder what life painting with watercolors would be like, with that medium it is hard to fix things. I guess it may depend on how much one plans.

our last art class at laguna gloria, we had a life model, but we just painted the face. i had asked the teacher for a life model, and he surprisingly agreed. so that was my first experience with a life model.

the session yesterday was probably... 80% of the people were drawing. though i would think 3 hours drawing one pose would be boring. andy was drawing and did multiple studies. the short pose session on mondays seem better suited for drawing since they do 1-minute, 5-minute, 15-minute and 30 minute poses..

on sundays they have 10 minutes worth of quick poses, 1 minute each to warmup.. and then about 3 hours worth of one pose. after she took a break, it was quite an endeavour getting her back to the original pose.

as for the differences.. to do a life painting, you still have to do a life drawing. the hard part for me is the color choices and the degrees of shadows. also it's tougher to have clean lines i think.

you should come sometime and try it. it's every sunday from 2-5 pm, only $5. what a deal :)
